I am lucky enough to have this store close by. It’s the earth food store in the centre of Bondi (Gould St), and it’s a happy, healthy, friendly gluten free haven that I love going to. I have been eating lunch there regularly over the years (pre-Coeliac), and always thought it was really great. Now – in Coeliac land, I think it’s really really great.
They’ve been around since 1992, and do fantastic vegetarian food that is fresh and so tasty: breakfasts & lunches, delicious snacks, muffins, cakes, dry goods, awesome coffee, juices, flowers and lovely fresh organic produce. They also have a big range of gluten free crackers and snacks – I’ll write more about those in another post.
There’s plenty of places to sit – like this gorgeous long shared table pictured above. It’s a great spot to watch the Bondi world go by. Or you can grab some bits and pieces and take-away. Their menu (it’s vegetarian) changes daily, and I often have trouble choosing. To have trouble choosing because there are multiple GF options is quite an exciting prospect. The team there are lovely – they’ll help you make a decision and are very well informed.
Here are a few images of what you could expect to find for lunch. If you’re in or around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, add this place to your list. Tout de suite.
Beautiful Nori rolls filled with fresh vegie stuff. I probably have about 3 of these a week.
Nori roll & rice ball.
Chickpea salad: chickpeas, tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber, coriander, wild rocket with goat’s cheese, lemon & olive oil.
Waldorf salad with apple, celery, toasted walnuts & raisins, with a yoghurt mayo dressing.
A hot meal of the day: braised fennel, tomato with white beans, olives & kale served with creamy polenta.
Gorgeous carrot cake.
